Fenway Park Turns 100!

Recently my friend, who is a Boston RedSox fanatic, sent me a link to a website he thought I would be interested in. It turned out he was right, his link took me to a site that was celebrating the 100th anniversary of Fenway Park using a mosaic! Similar to some of the other interactive mosaic website I have posted about, the mosaic is designed using thousands of images submitted by Redsox fans. Just by clicking around the mosaic, you can enlarge photos and read about each persons favorite Fenway memory. You can also use Facebook connect to see if any of your friends submitted their memory (my friend who sent me the link was, of coarse, already in the mosaic). What a great way to remember all the great moments at Fenway Park, I mean who wouldn't want to honor one of baseball most treasured landmarks? Here is the link, check it out!

Recently being in the market for a new car, I stumbled upon these two very cool mosaics when visiting their brand's Facebook pages. I added my photo and really felt like I was part of the brand experience. I never realized that a mosaic could really offer such a unique consumer-brand building experience, but these two mosaics do just that.
Intel's Museum of Me Mosaic Video

A friend recently forwarded me this very cool social photo montage experience. The application was built for Intel's new line of processors; although I am not sure how it directly relates to the processors, it makes a great impression. Nevertheless, the ending part of the on-the-fly video results in a very amazing mosaic that is built from all of your Facebook friends.
Although it doesn't seem like the "Intel robot arms" are actually placing the photo's in the correct spots (sorry, just my mosaic eye), the overall effect is very cool!
Stunning Billboard Mosaic

I happen to be walking through Times Square last weekend, when I stumble upon one of the most stunning mosaics I have ever seen. It was at least 70 to 80 feet tall and made up of varying sized photos (also known as multi-size-cells by the creators). The mosaic was promoting eHarmony 10th Anniversary. After a little digging and surfing, I found that our friends at Picture Mosaics were behind this breathtaking photo mosaic billboard. They also created an online interactive version is just as impressive. You can learn more about the mosaic and campaign here: http://www.i-newswire.com/world-s-largest-multi-size-cell/60641

Once in a while an online mosaic project catches my eye, and this one is definitively did! I think I have already spent over 4 hours just looking and reading about all of the users posted travel photos. I can't think of a more interesting or captivating way to show so many photos at once than in a mosaic, and this mosaic is no exception!

Mosaic 101: Quick and Dirty Mosaic Pitfalls

If you are new to photo mosaics or just simply enjoy looking at them then this article is for you…
I wanted to share a few quick thoughts. I am making the assumption that if you are reading this you have seen a few photo mosaics (in person, on the web, or on TV) and that you know that a photo mosaic is a group of photos (photo tiles or cells) arranged in a certain way to assemble another larger image. However I have found that much can go wrong in this effort if the colors and shapes of the photo tiles/cells are not analyzed correctly. To correct these short falls, some software applications and services "cheat" or create fake mosaics by using one of the two unfortunate methods below.

To mark the inauguration of our 44th President, Barack Omaba, The Fresno Bee and Picture Mosaics have created a very cool interactive mosaic. The mosaic is made up of all past presidents. The online mosaic also features a very impressive tour mode and pull down menu that allows you to find any president very quickly. The mosaic was also printed the the front page of the Fresno Bee Sunday's (January 18th, 2008) paper.
